What if your team is already capable of more than it shows?

Team Development and Sparring Partner for Executive Boards and Leadership Teams – Since 2003

A newly formed team, a new strategy, ambitious goals — or simply a desire to take collaboration to the next level: there are many good reasons to invest in team development. What has brought a team this far is a strong foundation. Taking the time to reflect on it creates the opportunity for the next step.

I help bring to light what’s already present within the team—not through a one-time event, but through a process that continues to have an impact beyond the workshop day.

Building Team Synergy Through a Shift in Perspective

Do you know the feeling when everyone is working hard, yet the team isn’t really pulling in the same direction? An outside perspective can reveal what has become difficult to see from within: the untapped potential for synergy that lies in different personalities.

Behavioural change in teams happens when each individual is taken into account — their goals, perspectives and personality — and when communication is addressed openly rather than left to happen in the background. That is why I consistently work on two interconnected levels: the individual and the team.

Team Building, Team Coaching or Team Development?

Team Building

Team building is like an event: an experience-oriented activity that brings people together and is fun—whether on its own or as part of a team-building program. MindMove offers various formats for this purpose.

Team Coaching

Team coaching is an ongoing process of regular, collaborative team reflection. Using coaching methods, it helps the team collectively focus on its strengths, goals and progress following the kick-off.

At MindMove, team coaching is a structured intervention with a clearly defined timeframe, typically one year. Through regular, collaborative reflection, the team continues to build on its strengths, work towards its goals and review its progress beyond the initial kick-off.

Team Development

Team development views the team as a social system, with its own collective patterns, roles and dynamics. The goal is to consciously develop these so that the team can effectively support the company’s objectives. The process ranges from clarifying the mandate to the kick-off meeting and on to the follow-ups that maintain momentum.

«Good decisions don’t emerge from thinking alone. And in a team, certainly not alone.»

What Really Happens in a Team Workshop

With clear workshop guidelines in place, we create the conditions for the team to explore what lies beneath the surface: its preferences, strengths and patterns, its shared objectives, and an honest reflection on its history. We examine informal roles and underlying values — and sometimes challenge long-held assumptions to consciously shift established paradigms. Both head and heart are equally engaged. Emotions, too, have an important role to play in team development.

In every workshop, we also return to the practical: translating insights into concrete, actionable steps. We capture the key takeaways and define the follow-up actions the team will put into practice in its day-to-day work.

A real-life -example

In a workshop with an executive team whose internal tensions had become noticeable to employees, we combined thorough initial alignment, individual self-reflection, the collaborative development of a vision for the desired team dynamic, an honest and appreciative review of the past, and outdoor activities.

A few weeks later, we revisited the action plan in a dedicated reinforcement session. The questions explored in that session were subsequently integrated into the monthly executive team meetings. The result was a more results-oriented meeting and communication culture, with a tangible impact on business performance.

Success is a habit

The work doesn’t end with the kick-off — that’s where the follow-up begins. Understandably, once teams return to their day-to-day responsibilities after a full day away, everyday business quickly takes over again. That’s why it is essential to agree on follow-up dates as early as the initial scoping and alignment phase.

Follow-ups sustain momentum and accountability within the team. Clear ownership of agreed actions and regular reflection are what make team development effective. Short follow-up sessions, focused on working on the team system rather than just in it, can easily be integrated into regular team meetings.

Because the truth is this: Training without follow-up is entertainment. Team development without accountability is daydreaming.

Impact Is What Matters

Team development is not an end in itself. “Getting along well” is pleasant, but it’s not enough. What matters most is the team’s impact on business results.

Teams, as microsystems, are currently facing particular challenges: The agile, hybrid reality of work demands more reflection on how to keep shared goals in sight and how to ensure everyone is involved.

Workshops as a Format

The most visible part of a team development process is usually a workshop – a team workshop, conflict mediation, or a leadership session without PowerPoint. Explore My Workshop Formats...
